Founded in 2006, SANY America markets concrete pump trucks, hydraulic excavators, crawler cranes and rough terrain cranes in the United States. Over the past six years, the company has experienced rapid growth in the North American heavy equipment markets and in 2011, the company opened its 37,000 m2 corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility in Peachtree City, Georgia.

Last year, SANY America exceeded sales expectations as a result of localizing the company’s sales, engineering, marketing and service teams and introducing products specifically tailored to the global market. These measures included forming new crawler and rough terrain crane research and development teams to address the requirements of North American customers.

In the crawler crane segment, John Lanning, the former Manitowoc crane designer, led an international team of nearly 50 engineers to create SANY’s flagship 300 metric ton-rated SCC8300 crawler crane. The clean-sheet design focused on setting new standards in the American crane market and resulted in the company’s first self-assembling crawler crane that meets US transportation and ANSI B30.5 regulations.

Today, the SCC8300 and its 200 metric ton-rated counterpart, the SCC8200, also boast the SANY Ultra Cab, a revolutionary operating environment designed by Porsche. The cab offers a completely ergonomic platform that minimizes operator fatigue and maximizes machine productivity.

Since their debut at ConExpo 2011, the SCC8300 and SCC8200 have served as a constant reminder of SANY’s commitment to innovation and exceeding customer expectations. In the United States, the SCC8300 has seen extensive use on a wind farm project in California, and the crane gained recognition in Construction Equipment Magazine’s 2011 Top 100 Products list.

Beyond the North American crawler crane market, the unveiling of three new machines in 2011 also led to rapid growth in the US rough terrain crane segment. The introduction of the 40 metric ton-rated SRC840, the 65 metric ton-rated SRC865 and the extra-long boom SRC865XL allowed SANY America to surpass sales expectations for rough terrain cranes and build broader sales and distribution channels.

Similar to the SCC8300 crawler crane, SANY’s SRC865 and SRC865XL are the product of international R&D efforts. Under the leadership of Division Director Jeff Addleman, SANY’s engineering efforts have focused on surpassing current American standards. A veteran of the crane industry, Addleman brings nearly 30 years of engineering experience to SANY, and under his guidance, the SRC865XL also earned its place on Construction Equipment Magazine’s 2011 Top 100 Products list.

In 2012, SANY America has continued to develop its crane sales network while partnering with heavy equipment dealers to market hydraulic excavators. SANY’s excavators feature environmentally-compliant engines, industry leading components and cabs designed to improve visibility and comfort.
